Behind Madam Ng Mei Yan’s soft smile lies a quiet struggle. Living in Jishantang Elderly Home in Selangor for over three years, the 60-something-year-old faces a daily challenge that many take for granted eating.

A year ago, she spent all her savings on a new set of dentures, hoping it would improve her quality of life. Instead, the ill-fitting dentures caused pain and made eating even harder. She had no choice but to go back to using her old, worn-out dentures, which often slip while eating leading to moments of discomfort, embarrassment, and loss of confidence.

“I’m not afraid of aging,” she said, “but I fear not being able to eat in peace.”
