Description

Great Heart Online Helping Hand – Case 7:

32 years-old Chan Siew Hong is Thailand-mixed Malaysian. Her parents were divorced since young age and she did not keep in contact with both her twin sister and younger brother. She has been staying alone in Kampar since the loss of her grandmother. Currently, she suffers from Schizophrenia and a severe headache. She would hit her head to the wall or with items when her headache comes around. Her friend used to drive her to Central Hospital in Ipoh two years ago to request for medication. Unfortunately, her friend passed away and left her with no financial support to travel to Central Hospital for more medication. Besides, she is also worried that her sickness will go uncontrollable if she travels to Ipoh alone.

The apartment manager felt sympathise with her situation. He often gave her some food and never collected management fees from her. She is also allowed to use the electrical appliances such as the fridge and kettle in the management office to store food and cook water. The water supply of her house was cut off due to the unsettled debt. She hopes that she could have a chance to work and earn income on her own. Proper medication can keep her sickness under control and she could then be able to work.

Great Heart Charity Association (GHCA) will help her to restore her water supply and repair water pipes and toilet. Apart from that, GHCA will also buy her some basic furniture and electrical appliances. In a longer run, GHCA will provide her groceries support (RM150/ month for 6 months), apply for government subsidies and bring her to government hospital to request for medication. The apartment manager might be able to provide her a part-time job as a cleaner in the future too.

Fund raising target (RM3,500):

  • To restore water supply: RM200.
  • To repair water pipes & toilet: RM1,300.
  • Furniture (Bed frame, tables, chairs, etc.): RM500.
