Situation
Tan Ah Kai, a 68-year-old bachelor, is hearing and speech impaired but can still utter some words and sounds. When Great Heart Charity Association volunteers visited him, he gestured happily and had a big smile for them.
He started his dialysis treatment in 2004, using his EPF funds and with financial help from his brother. After his brother passed away, his sister-in-law and his nephew has taken over the duties of looking after him.
The nurse at the dialysis center told us that many things went wrong for him recently; his bike was snatched in broad daylight and he was bitten by a stray dog. However, life’s rough patch doesn’t get him down, he cherishes his life and looks forward to his 3 dialysis sessions per week at the centre.
Our Support
Great Heart Charity Association will provide financial support to Mr. Tan Ah Kai to help cover the high cost of dialysis treatment of RM 720 per month up to four month continually.
