Ng Pik Nyun, 70, who led a very healthy and active lifestyle, was rarely sick. But ten years ago, a diagnosis of kidney failure was confirmed after repeated tests was conducted. Day in, day out, she went for dialysis treatment and after ten years, she is now very frail suffering from physical impacts of the disease.
The cost incurred for each dialysis sessionis Rm110 with an additional RM50 for each injection. This is a heavy burden on her two sons with their monthly income of only RM2,000 a month. Unable to make ends meet, they have failed to pay rent for two months, owing the house owner RM800.Unable to take leave from work, they often depend on their neighbor to fetch their mother to the Kau Ong Yah Dialysis centre.

Great Heart Charity Association has granted Ng Pik Nyun financial aid of RM720 per month for a period of six months.
