Situation:
Chan Siew Cheng, a single elderly woman was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2011. After chemotherapy she miraculously survived and overcame the disease. But in 2013 she had to undergo surgery to remove fluid from the chest after suffering from severe buildup of fluid in the lungs. She has to go for follow-up visits every three months. Chan Siew Cheng used to work as a masseur, and she had a special herbal oil massage that was popular with her clients.
However, with old age and after she got sick, she had to stop working. Currently , Tzu Chi, a non-government organisation helps to pay the house rent. She can also claim social welfare benefit of RM300 monthly from the government.
How We Helped:
Great Heart Charity Association has granted her a monthly living support subsidy of RM300 for purchase of daily necessities for a period of four months.
